We took our dog Karma back to Chris & Petra at K9 River Retreat for a second stay. She hopped out of the car with her tail wagging happy as Larry almost before we came to a stop. In fact, Karma was completely oblivious when we left to continue on our holiday. For anyone who has had that awful human guilt at the start of their trip after having to coax/drag their four-legged family member into a small fenced concrete run at an impersonal smelly kennel, those days are over! Dropping your pet off truly feels like popping in to see family! They love animals and it shows. So glad to have them in our region! Your pet will be loved & safe--- and get heaps of cuddles, too!

Honestly these guys are amazing. If there were 10 stars it wouldn't be enough. Where else do our dogs get cushions, couches, bean bags to sleep on, daily swims, walks, great food lots of love and attention. Totally impressed. We left our two dogs, Oscar and Jarrah, with Chris, Petra and Jess for a month while we went to Cape York. I checked dog boarding places from the Sunshine Coast to Cairns, and chose K9 River Retreat because they were so helpful, and made sure that both dogs were comfortable and well looked after. Oscar is 14 years old, blind and going deaf, and Jarrah is active, loves people and dogs, so the personalised service at K9 River Retreat was perfect for us. Both dogs came home very happy and had a great time there. Receiving updates and photos was wonderful. I'd highly recommend them to anybody.

K9 River Retreat is a true gem! Petra and Chris are very genuinely passionate about caring for dogs at the retreat while owners are absent elsewhere. The dogs are not locked up in cages like a lot of Kennels. Its nothing like a kennel. K9 River Retreat is exactly as it is a retreat for canines. This is the only place I will ever confidently leave my doggy when I have to go away.

K9 River Retreat are outstanding! Not only are their facilities the best I've ever seen, they are the only boarding facility I will ever use for my dog, Stanley. I can tell that he was genuinely cared for and that he loved his stay. Most importantly I know that he is really safe. K9 River Retreat got me out of a bind when I was stuck in the Gulf for work. Because Stanley was a regular with a local doggy day care facility I was easily able to arrange for his accommodation and transfers. I cant thank you both for that. To have peace of mind that Stanley was being really well looked after, meant the world to me. K9 River Retreat is second to none. It really is the only option for owners who want their dogs to be as well looked after when they're away, as they would be at home.

Petra and Chris are just great with animals. If you want to be sure your pet is looked after well, this is a great motel with really good people. We have a 11 year old german shepherd, and Chris and Petra advised us he had a problem with digestion. Due to there quick actions and also the Kurands Vets, our german shepherd is now 12 years old and still going. If we had not met Chris and Petra we probably would not have our dog today.
